Ideas
I have decided to expole Charlie Chaplin for my film studies research project. i have watched some of his films and read a little about him. I am interested by his politics and the coments he was making about society and the world in which he was working. I have decided that my focus will be Modern Times (1936) because of its direct comments about the industrialisation of the US - it is his last silent film and also the last in which he appears as the iconic tramp (13). The other two supporting films will be: 1) The Kid (1921) because it is his first long film, 60min, and is regarded as both a personal and political work in which the theam of supporting the underdog is clearly established 2) The Great Dictator (1942) because of its overt attack on Hitler.
